L&d team reviewing lms consulting platform configuration and implementation plan

LMS Implementation Consulting

An LMS Is Only as Good as the Plan Behind It.

From Assessment to Adoption. We Handle It All.

Most LMS projects start in the wrong place. A platform gets selected before anyone has assessed what training actually needs to live there, who needs it, or how the business will manage it long-term.

RTG provides LMS consulting from assessment to adoption. We help you select the right platform, build and upload your content, configure the system, and drive adoption from day one. Vendor neutral. Process first.

Why LMS Implementations Fail in Mid-Sized Organizations

Most LMS projects don’t fail because of the platform. They fail because the work that should happen before and after the platform is selected never gets done. The result is a system that’s live but underused, a training library nobody can find, and an implementation the organization can’t maintain without outside help every time something changes.

Why LMS Implementations Fall Short

  • Platform selected before training needs are assessed
  • No content strategy before go-live
  • IT leads implementation without L&D at the table
  • Existing training materials never migrated or reformatted
  • No adoption plan built into the implementation scope
  • Admin team not trained to manage the platform post-launch
  • Remote and hybrid employees not accounted for in the rollout

The Cost to Your Organization

  • System built around the wrong requirements from day one
  • Employees log in and find incomplete or unusable training
  • Platform configured for technology, not for how people actually learn
  • Investment in new platform doesn’t replace the old problem
  • System goes live. Usage never follows.
  • Every update or change requires outside support
  • Inconsistent training experience across locations and teams

Why Does RTG Make LMS Implementation Work?

Most LMS implementations are led by someone with a platform to sell or a technology team with no L&D expertise at the table. Neither produces a system your organization can actually use.

RTG brings consulting discipline to every phase. We assess before we recommend. We build before we launch. We train before we hand off. The result is an LMS your employees use, your admins can manage, and your leadership can measure.

Vendor Neutral. Always.

RTG has no platform affiliation and no reseller agreement. Our only mandate is finding the right fit for your training needs, your workforce, and your budget. You get an objective recommendation every time.

Built Around How Your People Actually Work

Generic implementation checklists don’t account for how your organization is structured, how your employees are distributed, or what your training actually needs to accomplish. RTG maps implementation to your roles, your locations, and your compliance requirements — so the system works the way your business does.

Connected to Your Broader L&D Strategy

An LMS doesn’t operate in isolation. RTG is also an instructional design and learning development firm. Your implementation reflects your full training strategy — content, curriculum, compliance, and leadership development — not just the technical setup.

LMS Implementation Is the Infrastructure Every Other Training Investment Depends On.

Most organizations have more training activity than they have training infrastructure. Materials exist in shared drives, inboxes, and the heads of tenured employees. Onboarding is inconsistent. Compliance tracking is manual. Remote employees get a different experience than those on-site. An LMS doesn’t just organize training. It makes training measurable, scalable, and repeatable across every role and every location.

Get the Implementation Right the First Time

Rushed LMS implementations create problems that compound. A platform configured around the wrong requirements, content uploaded without a learning path strategy, employees launched into a system nobody explained — these aren’t small fixes. RTG builds implementation plans that account for every variable before a single configuration decision is made. A system that works on day one and scales as your organization grows.

Built for Every Employee. Everywhere They Work.

Remote and hybrid workforces expose every gap in a training program. If your LMS isn’t configured for how your employees actually work — across locations, shifts, and devices — adoption fails before it starts. RTG designs implementation around your full workforce so every learning path reaches the people who need it, wherever they are.

Give Leadership Training Data They Can Act On.

An LMS without a measurement strategy is just a content library. RTG builds reporting and tracking into your implementation from the start, including completion rates, assessment scores, compliance status, and learning path progress. ATD Research research found that only 30% of organizations are good at using learning program data to make business decisions. We help close that gap so leadership gets clear visibility and your organization gets a stronger path to ROI.

LMS Implementation Consulting FAQs

LMS implementation consulting is a structured process for assessing an organization’s training needs, selecting the right learning management system, building and uploading content, configuring the platform, and driving employee adoption. Unlike IT-led deployments or vendor-guided setup, RTG Solutions Group manages the full implementation as a consulting engagement — aligned to your workforce, your training requirements, and your business goals — so the system works from day one and stays working long after launch.

Not every organization does. But most mid-sized businesses underestimate the scope of a successful LMS implementation. Platform selection, content strategy, learning path design, migration of existing materials, system configuration, and adoption planning are each their own workstream. Without consulting support, critical steps get skipped, timelines slip, and the platform goes live before the organization is ready to use it. RTG brings the structure that keeps every phase on track.

RTG is vendor neutral. We work with a wide range of cloud-based platforms commonly used by mid-sized businesses — including TalentLMS, Docebo, Absorb LMS, Litmos, and LearnUpon — and we help clients evaluate options based on their workforce size, compliance requirements, budget, and long-term training goals. Our recommendation is always based on what fits your organization, not what we have an incentive to sell.

Most RTG LMS implementation engagements run 12 to 16 weeks from Discovery through Adoption, depending on scope, content volume, and the number of employee groups involved. Discovery and needs assessment typically run two weeks. Platform configuration, content build, and learning path development run eight to twelve weeks. System testing and full rollout each run approximately two weeks. We don’t hand off a configured platform and walk away — we stay through launch and install the sustainment structure so your team can manage it independently.

Yes. Content assessment, reformatting, and upload are included in RTG’s LMS implementation scope. Whether your training exists in Word documents, PowerPoint decks, recorded videos, or in-person facilitation guides, we evaluate what you have, determine what needs to be reformatted for an LMS environment, build any gaps in the curriculum, and upload and organize everything into the platform before go-live.

E-learning refers to digital training content — courses, modules, videos, and assessments. An LMS is the platform that delivers, organizes, and tracks that content across your workforce. You can have e-learning without an LMS, but you lose the ability to assign training by role, track completion, manage compliance, and measure performance at scale. An LMS turns individual training content into a managed, measurable learning program.

Yes. RTG works with organizations that have an existing LMS that is underutilized, poorly configured, or no longer aligned to how the business operates. We assess your current platform, identify what’s working and what isn’t, and determine whether optimization or migration to a new system is the right path. Not every LMS problem requires starting over — but every one requires a clear-eyed assessment before any decisions are made.

Why RTG Solutions Group for LMS Consulting?

Process first. Technology second. RTG doesn’t lead with a platform recommendation and work backward. We assess your training landscape, align stakeholders, and build an implementation plan before a single configuration decision is made. Every phase — from needs analysis through post-launch adoption — is managed by a consulting team that understands both the technology and the learning strategy behind it. The result is an LMS your employees use, your admins can manage, and your leadership can measure. Not just a system that’s live. A system that works.
